Illinois Sen. Jack Franks introduces a new anti-corruption bill
It's kind of pathetic Illinois would even need a law like this one on the books

Illinoisβ political history is checkered with tales of corruption, patronage and underhanded dealings. Democratic state Rep. Jack Franks of Marengo introduced House Bill 1440 Feb. 5 in an effort to curb Illinoisβ further association with such political blemishes.
Franks said in a statement regarding his ethics bill: βOur stateβs track record with corrupt public officials would be comical if it werenβt so tragically real,β Franks said. βDespite this deplorable history, we must not continue accepting cronyism, sleaze and backroom deals as if they are simply a fact of life.β
