Lunch and Learn Program features Historic Masonry at Colonel Palmer House

The Lunch and Learn program series continues this fall at the Colonel Palmer House with programs that reveal the history of the interior and exterior of your home. The program includes a delicious boxed lunch for participants. Pre-registration is required and is available online at www.crystallakeparks.org or in person at the Crystal Lake Park District Administration Office located at One East Crystal Lake Ave, Crystal Lake. Lunch and Learn Program: Repointing Historic Masonry
Friday, October 23 (program code 9295-2), Noon-1:30 pm

Matt Engelmann of US Heritage Group will present the specifics on how to maintain and repair historic masonry of your brick clad home or business. Matt will also discuss the process used to repoint a portion of the Colonel Palmer House last year and what discoveries were made during the project.

The Colonel Palmer House located at 660 E. Terra Cotta Rd, Crystal Lake, was built c.1858 by settlers Gustavus and Henrietta Palmer. Located on its original site, the home was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Currently the home is maintained by the Crystal Lake Park District and home to the Crystal Lake Historical Society.
