McSweeney Sworn into Office for 52nd District
Rep. David McSweeney will represent the newly mapped 52nd district.

State Representative David McSweeney was sworn in Sunday, Jan. 6, as the new state representative from the 52nd state house district.
McSweeney took the oath from Judge Peter C. Cavanagh, Sangamon County Circuit Court Judge, alongside his daughter Melissa, according to a press release.

βI look forward to getting to work on behalf of my constituents addressing the many challenges facing our state,β McSweeney said in the release. βAs representative, I have the same priorities as I do in the business world; fiscal responsibility and responsive leadership.β
McSweeney replaces Kent Gaffney for the remainder of the 97th General Assemblyβs lame-duck session scheduled from Jan. 6 -8, the release stated.

βIt is an honor to serve the people of Illinois, and I pledge to work with my colleagues to produce meaningful results,β added McSweeney. βIn the coming days I will take my first votes and will begin working toward fulfilling my campaign pledges.β
The 98th General Assembly convenes on Jan. 9, when McSweeney willΒ represent the newly mapped 52nd district. The district includes parts of Algonquin, Barrington, Carpentersville, Cary, Fox River Grove, Island Lake, Lake in the Hills and Wauconda.
