Monofilament Recycling Receptacles Available at Crystal Lake Park District Fishing Piers
Fishing line is a major pollutant

Did you know that fishing line is a major pollutant in area waterways and can entangle and cause harm wildlife, boat propellers and even people? Additionally, ingestion is deadly to fish and waterfowl. The Crystal Lake Park District is installing Monofilament Recycling Receptacles at fishing pier locations through the parks. These receptacles will be installed near the fishing piers at Main Beach, West Beach, Veteran Acres and Woodscreek Park. Installation is expected to be completed by October 1. Fishermen are asked to collect and deposit used fishing line in the receptacles in an effort to keep our waters clean and our wildlife safe. Used fishing line will be collected and used to construct underwater fish spawning structures.
