New Report Finds it's Most Taxing Being an Illinois Taxpayer
Just when you thought Illinois taxpayers had enough reasons to hate Tax Day.

Tax Day is a stressful time for most Americans, particularly all those last-minute filers. But in Illinois, itβs a tough and miserable day for more reasons than just stress.
Wallethub, a leading personal finance website, ranked all 50 states and Washington D.C., based on how local and state tax rates compare to the national average. Four types of taxation and the middle income rate of $52,551 were used to provide a state-by-state comparison.
While Wallethubβs estimated average amount of state and local taxes paid by Illinois taxpayers might seem way too low, especially when you consider how much suburban taxpayers pay alone in property taxes (see the groupβs methodology for why), itβs still high enough to land Illinois a pathetic ranking.
