Prairie Ridge High School College and Career Center Supervisor, Paula Steiner, received the 2016 Counselors That Change Lives award.

Prairie Ridge High School College and Career Center Supervisor, Paula Steiner, recently received the 2016 Counselors That Change Lives award. Steiner is one of only eight counselors from across the country to receive the national award from Colleges That Change Lives (CTCL.)

“Paula connects with each student. She is dedicated to helping each student find their individual path to succeed beyond high school. This impressive national award recognizes our high caliber of D155 professionals and programs,” said Dr. Johnnie Thomas, superintendent.

Cornell College nominated Steiner for the individual attention she gives to each visiting college and also each student.

“I feel very fortunate to have the job that I do. High school kids are interesting and funny and inspiring, and it is an honor to be even a very small part of one of the biggest decisions they will ever make. The future looks very bright when you glimpse it through their eyes,” says Steiner.

The PR College and Career Center offers an inviting atmosphere and many resources. Steiner says she meets with over 140 colleges every year to stay informed of college and career opportunities to share with students.

“Paula is such a versatile asset to PR. Our kids love her and gravitate to her office. She is a wealth of information on universities big and small and which would be good fits for our students; and her list of contacts -- both locally and nationally -- is amazing. She’s a huge part of our success here,” said Dr. Steven Koch, Prairie Ridge High School principal.
