$20,000 Shoplifting At Darien Store: Cop

The theft wasn't reported until more than six hours later, police said.

DARIEN, IL – A man stole more than $20,000 worth of jewelry last week at a Darien store, police said.

The manager at Walmart, 2189 75th St., told officers that a jewelry display case was found empty with a damaged locking mechanism, police said.

Video showed a man stealing the jewelry at 3:09 pm. last Wednesday, police said. Three minutes later, he left the store.

An officer was dispatched to the store at 9:42 p.m., more than six hours later, police said.
