3 More Darien Virus Cases In Last Week
Rate of growth in cases continues to slow in Darien.
DARIEN, IL — The trend of declining growth in Darien's coronavirus case number continues. As of Sunday, the community saw three more cases of the coronavirus over the previous week, increasing to 116, from 113 a week earlier, according to DuPage County Health Department figures.

Darien's increase last week, which amounted to 3 percent, was lower than DuPage County's 5 percent. Darien makes up 2.3 percent of the county's population and 1.4 percent of the coronavirus cases.

As of Sunday, Darien had 5.4 coronavirus cases per thousand people. That compares to 3.3 in Western Springs, 5.2 in Elmhurst, 5.3 in Clarendon Hills, 5.7 in La Grange Park, 8.4 in Burr Ridge, 8.9 in DuPage County, 10.3 in Hinsdale and 11.9 in La Grange.
In DuPage County, Addison is leading the pack with 772 cases, or 21.2 per thousand, according to the health department. West Chicago follows with 728 cases, or 27.1 per thousand.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 127,757, up 6 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 5,904 state residents.
Nationally, 2 million people have caught the virus and 112,471 have died from it.
