5 Retail Thefts, Damage To Car: Darien Cops

Five people were charged with theft in self-checkout at Walmart, police said.

DARIEN, IL — Darien police released their latest blotter Thursday. Here is information from the reports:

Retail theft

  • Caneki Ward, 45, of Woodridge, was cited about 5 p.m. Dec. 6 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. According to a police report, Ward was seen failing to scan items at the self-checkout aisle and then attempting to leave. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Destiny Brady, 26, of Woodridge, was cited about 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on charges of retail theft and false identification presented. According to a police report, she was seen failing to scan items at the self-checkout aisle and then placing them into a cart. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Doralyn Payne, 19, of Bolingbrook, was cited about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. According to a police report, she failed to scan items in the self-checkout aisle and then put them into a bag. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Nicole Hicks, 49, of Downers Grove, was cited about 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. According to a police report, she failed to scan multiple items in the self-checkout aisle and attempted to leave. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Reyna Yurivia, 47, of Bolingbrook, was cited about 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. According to a police report, she was seen under-scanning items at the self-checkout aisle. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Damage

  • Suspects damaged a back window of a car parked in a driveway between 10 p.m. Dec. 5 and 11:30 a.m. Dec. 6 in the 7300 block of Bunker road. The damage was estimated at $500.

Warrants

  • Robert Johnson, 41, of Maywood, was arrested about 10 a.m. Dec. 9 at Plainfield Road and 75th St. on two warrants charging failure to appear in court and on a charge of disobeying a traffic control device. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • Bernardo Diaz, 42, of North Riverside, was cited about 10 p.m. Saturday at 75th Street and Lemont Road on charges of driving with a revoked license, improper lane usage and no license plate lights. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Nakiyah Askew, 18, of Chicago, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 7300 block of Cass Avenue on charges of obstructing identification, no valid driver's license and speeding. According to a police report, she was speeding 55 mph in a 40 mph zone. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
