DARIEN, IL – A Darien man is accused of placing a gun to a woman's head during an argument in their house, police said.
Police said they found many guns in the home and got a judge to approve a firearms restraining order for the man.
In response to a public records request, Darien police provided the police report.
Police said the incident occurred during the early evening of May 12 near Linden Avenue and 79th Street.
According to the report, the 64-year-old man badgered a woman while she was on the phone and then placed a handgun on the right side of her face
When officers arrived, the man refused police requests to leave the house unarmed, police said. Asked about the gun, he said it was a Glock 19 handgun and was under a couch, the report said.
He agreed to walk out the back patio out of neighbors' view, but he declined to let officers get near him while searching for the gun, according to the report. He later allowed an officer to speak with him at a table in the home's four-seasons room, police said.
The man told police that he had twice checked his gun to ensure it was unloaded, but denied pointing it at the woman.
He was charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count of aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon, police said.
The gun was found under the couch.
After getting the firearms restraining order, police said they searched the man's house, finding six handguns, three rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
