WILLOWBROOK, IL – The closure of the Denny's restaurant in Willowbrook is less temporary than the chain indicated last month.
On May 11, the corporation's public relations department told Patch that the local restaurant was shutting down temporarily for renovations. The chain said the eatery at 7737 Kingery Highway was expected to reopen the following week.
But that did not happen. Its continued closure has become fodder on local social media.
In response to a Patch inquiry, the chain said Monday, "The Willowbrook location remains temporarily closed while completing the final steps needed to reopen. The work has taken longer than initially anticipated, and the team is focused on welcoming back guests and team members as soon as possible."
The chain has about 1,400 restaurants.
Nearby Denny's locations are in Oakbrook Terrace, Bolingbrook, Hickory Hills, Oak Lawn and Oak Park.
