DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving a child abduction, endangerment of a child, burglary, retail theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:
Child abduction
Rebecca Lebrun of Westmont, whose age was not released, was arrested on the Fourth of July on a child abduction charge. About 11 a.m., officers were called to 69th Street and Wilmette Avenue, where officers were told Lebrun was stealing a baby. Lebrun later told officers she had custody of the child, but an investigation found the father had custody, police said. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
A 39-year-old Woodridge woman was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Sunday on a charge of endangering the health of a child. Police said she left a child in a running car at the shopping center at 7511 Lemont Road. The woman was released.
Burglary, retail theft
Andre Keys, 61, of Chicago, was arrested about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on charges of burglary and retail theft. Police said he stole items at Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave. Keys was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Retail theft
An Orland Park man, whose age was not released, was cited on a retail theft charge. Police said someone stole $69 in food about 6:30 p.m. July 1 at Brookhaven Market grocery store, 7516 Cass Ave. The man turned himself in at the police station. He was given a court date and then released.
A man and a woman from Willowbrook, whose ages were not released, were cited about 5 p.m. Friday at Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave., on retail theft charges. Police said the pair was stopped at the store exit and found to have stolen $68 worth of merchandise. They were given a date to appear in court and then released.
DUI
A Darien man who lives in the 500 block of 71st Street, whose age was not released, was arrested shortly after midnight Friday near Plainfield Road and 75th Street on charges of DUI and stopping on the road. Officers were called for a well-being check for a person in a white pickup truck. He was slumped over in the car. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
