DARIEN, IL – A tattoo artist at a Downers Grove tattoo shop harassed a female client who went to another business to finish a tattoo, authorities said.
Last week, the 50-year-old man was arrested on a 2011 warrant for misdemeanor electronic harassment, Darien police said.
The man has long been associated with Downers Grove Tattoo Co., 615 W. Ogden Ave., which advertises itself as the western suburbs' largest and oldest tattoo establishment.
The man's Facebook page lists him as working at the Downers Grove shop and one in suburban Spokane, Washington.
Patch obtained the police report through a public records request.
In January 2011, the woman told police that she had been the victim of harassment through the man's and his father's Facebook pages.
The man's messages called the woman a "whore" and a "c--t," according to the report.
The woman told police that the man had begun a tattoo on her but that she had it finished elsewhere.
The woman and her mother asked police to contact the son and father to have them stop the messages.
In a conversation with an officer, the man acknowledged the messages were from him and his father, the report said.
When asked whether the messages were inappropriate, the man admitted they were, but said he was irritated the woman wouldn't answer his messages about completing the tattoo, police said.
He said he grew more irritated when he discovered she went to another artist.
The man and his father took down the messages, police said.
The officer told the man he would be charged. The man responded that he did not know the messages were illegal and that he was sorry, police said.
Later that same day, the woman contacted police to report that the man was trying to contact her, her mother and her sister.
Asked about that, the man told police that he was trying to contact them to apologize, according to the report. During a phone conversation with an officer, the man was said to have cried.
Last week, Darien police gave the man a court date and released him.
