Another Small Hike In Darien Virus Cases
Darien has experienced four coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began.
DARIEN, IL — Darien saw another small increase in its coronavirus caseload over the last week. As of Sunday, the community saw five more cases over the previous week, according to DuPage County Health Department figures. Since the pandemic began, Darien has experienced four coronavirus-related deaths.

Darien's rate of increase last week, which amounted to 4 percent, was about the same as DuPage County as whole. The county's growth rate has usually been higher than Darien's. Darien makes up 2.3 percent of the county's population and 1.5 percent of the coronavirus cases.

As of Sunday, Darien had 6.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people. That compares to 6.2 in Western Springs, 7 in Clarendon Hills, 7.4 in La Grange Park, 8.6 in Elmhurst, 10.5 in DuPage County, 10.9 in Burr Ridge, 12.5 in Hinsdale, 14.8 in La Grange and 15.2 in suburban Cook County.
In DuPage County, Addison is leading the pack with 857 cases, or 23.5 per thousand, according to the health department. West Chicago follows with 809 cases, or 30.2 per thousand. Addison and West Chicago have recorded nine and 14 coronavirus-related deaths, respectively.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 153,916, up 4.5 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 7,187 state residents.
Nationally, 3.2 million people have caught the virus and 134,572 have died from it.
