Any No-Knock Warrants in Darien?
Darien police chief addresses the issue in his monthly report.
DARIEN, IL — No-knock warrants have become an issue across the country after Louisville police shot and killed an off-duty medic, Breonna Taylor, earlier this year after using such a warrant to storm her house. In his monthly report this week, Darien Police Chief Greg Thomas weighed in on the issue of no-knock warrants.
He said he was unaware of any no-knock warrants executed by the police department.
"I've only been here a little over four years, so I asked detectives and SWAT members if they knew of any," the chief said in the report. "I was told by them that they were unaware of any being issued."

Thomas said that this does not mean no-knock warrants are not an available option, as he did not check with DuPage County judges to see if they would issue them.
He said that after having served on the Aurora Police Department's SWAT team for 17 years, "I think there are arguments for a no-knock warrant for the safety of officers."
