Armed Home Invaders Held Down, Struck Mother and Children While They Searched for Valuables

The Burr Ridge family was home when three masked male intruders invaded their house.

A mother and her five children were held down or struck Tuesday night by masked men looking for valuables during a home invasion in Burr Ridge.

Burr Ridge police were called around 10:22 p.m. Tuesday to the 8300 block of Clyndervan Road, according to a police department news release.

The family was home when three masked male intruders robbed the house. One man was armed with a black and gray semi-automatic handgun. The intruders left after about 10 minutes.

The woman and her children, ages 3 to 19, were treated at the scene, and no one needed to be hospitalized, according to the release.

Burr Ridge police and a K-9 officer from the Willowbrook Police Department searched the home and the surrounding area. They determined the intruders probably left the area in a vehicle that had been parked nearby.

The intruders were described as men wearing hoods, with their faces covered by masks, according to the release.

Investigators don’t believe this incident was a random act, and it remains under investigation.
