Armed Robbery At Darien Convenience Store: Cops

The men demanded a large amount of cigarettes, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Five men held up a Darien convenience store last week, with a weapon seen, local police said

Police said the men threateningly demanded a large amount of cigarettes about 12:30 a.m. Friday at Speedway, 10250 Lemont Road. The value of the stolen cigarettes was about $1,000, police said.

A weapon was seen, but not used, according to the police report.

"The witness believes it was a gun," Police Chief Greg Thomas said in an email to Patch. "The grip and magazine were seen sticking out from under the suspect’s sweatshirt. The gun was not displayed."
