Armed Robbery At Darien Gas Station
Suspect was wearing a bandana and holding a rifle, police report says.
DARIEN, IL — The Shell gas station at 8226 Cass Ave. was robbed about 4:30 a.m. Jan. 30, according to a police report. A suspect wearing a bandana and holding a rifle entered the store through the south door and demanded cash and cigars, the report said. He left in a Dodge Avenger heading south on Cass Avenue toward Interstate 55. The loss was estimated at $380.

- Dejuan Davis, 32, of Chicago, was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. Jan. 29 in the 8000 block of Lemont Road on a charge of driving with a suspended license. He was released and given a date of March 12 to appear in traffic court.
- Ebony White, 47, of Naperville, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at 75th Street and Clarendon Hills Road on charges of driving with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with a license plate cover. She was released and given a date of March 26 to appear in court.
- Santea Hayes, 31, of Woodridge, was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in the 8500 block of Lemont Road on a DuPage County warrant for failure to appear in court and a charge of driving with one headlight. The suspect was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Someone shot street signs at North Frontage Road and Carriage Green Drive. The round entered the back of one sign and exited out the front of another sign. The public works department reported the crime at 1 p.m. Jan. 30. The damage was estimated at $400.
- A resident in the 1900 block of 71st Street told police that a man pounded on his front door and informed him he needed to look at the backyard under the ruse he was installing a new fence for a neighbor about 2 p.m. Jan. 31. The suspect tried repeatedly to get the homeowner to go outside. The victim refused. The suspect left the house in a white SUV. Shortly after the suspect left, the homeowner discovered that upstairs closets were open and items thrown around. The loss was unknown.
- An officer was called to Walmart, 2189 75th St., for a report of retail theft about 11:30 a.m. Feb. 1. An employee watched a store video from Jan. 31 that showed a suspect take a cart with four Roomba vacuums into the garden center and re-enter again with no car before leaving the stgore. Two of the Roombas were recovered outside the garden center fence. The loss was $592.
- Tavaris Batemon, 27, was arrested about 4 p.m. Feb. 1 near Cass Avenue and 75th Street on charges of obstructing identification and resisting arrest. Batemon's car was stopped and when an officer attempted to arrest him, Batemon pushed past officers, but was taken into custody and then to the DuPage County Jail.
- Walmart, 2189 75th St., reported a retail theft about 2 a.m. Feb. 2. Three men drove away eastbound on 75th Street in a white SUV after taking $228 worth of items without paying.
- Garret Curry, 26, of Woodridge, was arrested about 1 a.m. Feb. 5 on a felony warrant from DuPage County for marijuana possession and speeding. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
