Our Lady of Peace School Science Fair Results Prove Best in Region

pride is soaring this week after learning several of its eighth-grade students representing the school in the Regional Science Fair not only advanced to state competition in May, but took home several high honors giving them the distinction of being among the best in the region. Several students’ work scored high enough to be recognized as “top ten” best projects of the entire Regional Science Fair. In the two sessions of competition, projects and papers, fourteen gold awards and two silver awards were earned by OLP eighth grade students.

In addition to these high honors, several OLP students were presented with special regional awards for their outstanding achievements. These awards were announced for the first time to these students and the OLP student body at the Friday school mass.  This exceptional news led to cheering and a standing ovation.

Erin Menich achieved a perfect score on her project, earning her the Best Project Award for the entire Regional Science Fair. Carissa Estilo and Emilija Razma tied for Best Paper Award at the competition. Warren Dawes and John Pecora received second Best in Category awards for their projects. Sarah Janek was recognized with the Artistic Award for her creative backboard display. These five students were also ranked in the top ten at the competition.

All sixteen students proved that OLP has one of the best science curriculums around and students benefit from a rich background of research and writing leading up to eighth grade, allowing them to succeed at this level.
