This Business Upsets Some Darien Residents
The property was once a residence, but it has turned into a business, alderwoman says.
DARIEN, IL — A Darien alderwoman says she has received complaints from residents in her southwest Darien ward about a honeybee farm just outside city limits. They have expressed concern over the noise, smell and traffic related to the farm.
The residents in the Brookridge Creek neighborhood are referring to a business on Kearney Road, Ward 5 Alderwoman Mary Sullivan told the City Council on Monday. It is in the unincorporated area regulated by DuPage County; Sullivan did not mention a specific address.
Historically, the property has been residential, but it has turned into a business in recent times, Sullivan said.

"I have been in contact with city staff and the mayor and talking with some of the folks at DuPage County on how to work with this business and what's allowed and what's not," Sullivan said.
At times, Darien aldermen receive complaints about what's happening just outside the city's boundaries. Recently, a house on 73rd Street has been the subject of complaints, with an alderman saying the roof is in bad shape and the grass is tall. Officials said they would reach out to DuPage County because the house is in the unincorporated area.
