Car Break-ins, Hinsdale South Theft: Darien Cops

Vehicles were burglarized along three streets in Darien, police said.

DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving car burglaries, a theft at Hinsdale South, DUIs, retail theft and driving violations. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

Car burglaries

  • A car was burglarized between 12:25 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of Carlow Drive. A garage door opener was used to access the garage. The loss was estimated at $100.
  • A car was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday in the 8700 block of Carlisle Court. The loss was estimated at $200.
  • A car was burglarized between 1:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday in the 8400 block of Alden Lane. A purse and a wallet were stolen.

Converter theft

  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a car shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot at Hinsdale South High School, 7401 Clarendon Hills Road. The school's surveillance video shows a partial view of the car being jacked up. The loss was estimated at $1,000.

DUIs

  • Tyron Powell, 26, of Aurora, was arrested about 6 a.m. Thursday on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of marijuana and improper lane usage. Officers received a report of a car that drove off the road in the 7800 block of Lemont Road. Officers saw the vehicle in the 8800 block of Lemont Road with pieces of grass stuck to the bumper. Powell was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Vytautas Klimaitis, 44, of Darien, was arrested shortly after midnight Sunday in the 8100 block of Cass Avenue on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, no valid driver's license and speeding. He was clocked speeding 65 mph in a 40 mph zone. The driver was released and given a date to appear in court.

  • Strahinja Racic, 28, and Sara Maksimovic, 20, both of Westmont, were cited about 8 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on charges of retail theft. According to a police report, they were seen under-scanning items in the self-checkout aisle. They were released and given a date to appear in court.

Driving violations

  • Robert Huddleston, 27, of Downers Grove, was cited about 11 p.m. Thursday on charges of driving with an expired driver's license for more than a year and improper lighting. An officer saw the suspect driving onto 75th Street from Walmart without his headlights or taillights on. Huddleston was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Hector Zelaya-Herrera, 33, of Chicago, was cited about 11:30 a.m. at 75th Street and Farmingdale Road on charges of no valid driver's license and driving with a suspended registration. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Delilah Hubbard, 25, of Chicago, was cited about 8 p.m. Friday on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle and speeding. She was clocked speeding 58 mph in a 25 mph zone. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Quentin Adams, 18, of Bolingbrook, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Boughton Road on charges of driving with a revoked license, no registration on the vehicle and improper lane usage. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
