Car Burglaries, DarienFest Theft: Cops
Two break-ins happened in the same local subdivision.

DARIEN, IL – In recent days, Darien police handled cases involving car burglaries, a theft at DarienFest, shoplifting and driving violations. Here is information from the latest reports:
Car burglaries
- A vehicle was burglarized about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 10 in the 1000 block of Ripple Ridge. Video showed the suspect trying to start the car. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,400. Nothing was stolen. Police also received a report that a car was burglarized that night in the same subdivision, in the 1100 block of Hinswood Drive. The passenger window was shattered, and the glove box was removed. The damage was estimated at $400.
DarienFest theft

- Officers at DarienFest were approached by a person reporting the theft of a phone at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The victim and police were unable to find it. The loss was estimated at $1,000.
Shoplifting
- Video showed two people leaving CVS, 8325 Lemont Road, about 6:30 p.m. Sunday after stealing items and placing them in bags. The loss is unknown. Security sensors sounded, alerting employees.
Driving violations

- Paul Kubina, 53, of Roselle, was cited about 3:30 p.m. Sunday near 75th Street and Fairview Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license and disobeying a traffic control device. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Antonio Brown Jr., 30, of Bolingbrook, was cited at 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 8700 block of Lemont Road on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
