Car Stolen In Darien, Found In Chicago Days Later: Police

Police say the car was taken from a driveway in the 8900 block of Lemont Rd.

DARIEN, IL — A vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a home in Darien on Thanksgiving and later recovered by Chicago Police. The theft took place the 8900 block of Lemont Rd. sometime after 1 a.m.

According to police, the suspect(s) stole a 2013 Chevy Cruze that had been left unlocked. Chicago Police recovered the vehicle three days later on Nov. 27.

Vehicle thefts, burglaries, and carjackings have spiked in Chicago's western suburbs since summer. Most of these crimes have taken place overnight and are often committed by teens, many of whom come to the suburbs from Chicago.

This Thanksgiving car theft took place near I-355 and I-55, in keeping with trends that have shown that these crimes often target vehicles that are close to major highways.

Police throughout the western suburbs are urging residents to leave their vehicles locked at all times and to make sure that no valuables are in sight.
