Christmas Fight At Darien Family Gathering Leads To Arrest: Cops

In another case, a man was arrested on assault and battery charges after a bar incident, police said.

DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving domestic battery, a bar fight, DUIs, retail theft and damage. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

Domestic battery

  • A 47-year-old Woodridge man was arrested about 2 a.m. on Christmas Day on charges of domestic battery and endangering the life or health of a child. Hernandez, who was drinking, fought with a family member at a family gathering in the 1000 block of 79th Street. A youth told security at Walmart, 2189 75th St., about the incident; security then called the police. Hernandez was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • A 37-year-old Westmont man was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at Q Bar, 8109 Cass Ave., on charges of assault and battery. He was released and given a date to appear in court. Patch has filed a public records request for the full police report.

DUI

  • A 27-year-old Willowbrook man was arrested about 11 p.m. Dec. 21 on charges of DUI, speeding and making an improper turn. An officer clocked the man speeding 61 mph in a 40 mph zone in the 7800 block of Lemont Road. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A Downers Grove man was arrested about 4 a.m. Saturday on charges of DUI, speeding and improper lane usage. An officer clocked him speeding 64 mph in a 40 mph zone on Cass Avenue. Police did not give the man's age. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Retail theft

  • A Willowbrook woman was arrested about 5 p.m. Dec. 22 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. Police said she altered the price of items by using a cutout barcode. Police did not give the woman's age. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Damage

  • Two rear tires were punctured and deflated overnight Saturday at a parking lot in the 7500 block of Country Lane. The loss was estimated at $750.
