Cigarette Theft, DUI Arrest: Darien Police
Darien police respond to burglary of Willowbrook store, report says.
DARIEN, IL — The Darien Police Department on Monday released its weekly police blotter. Here is information from the reports:
- An officer was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call about 5:30 a.m. June 11 in Willowbrook. A witness saw a suspect break a window at Cheap Tobacco, 6800 Route 83. The suspect was last seen on video headed south on Route 83 in a silver Chevrolet Malibu. Stolen at the store were 109 cartons of cigarettes, valued at $8,800.
- Rickey Salazar, 64, of Biloxi, Miss., was arrested at 12:30 a.m. June 15 on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license and improper lane usage. An officer was leaving Citgo gas station, 402 Plainfield Road, when he saw a passing car swerve left into the eastbound lanes of Plainfield Road. The driver's side tires were crossing the solid yellow line.
- Two wicker chairs were stolen from a garage common area between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 12 in the 7500 block of Country Lane. The loss is estimated at $400.
- Derrick Hess, 28, of Romeoville, was cited June 14 in the 2700 block of 75th Street on charges of no valid registration and no valid license. He was given a date to appear in court.
- Michelle Cozzi, 20, of Berwyn, was arrested shortly after 9 p.m. June 16 on a DuPage County warrant for larceny. She was given a date to appear in court.
Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
