Controversial Darien Apartments Get Go-Ahead
The developer is planning a formal groundbreaking next week.

DARIEN, IL – The proposed apartment complex in southwestern Darien, which is opposed by many of its neighbors, got the city's go-ahead Friday.
The developer, South Barrington-based The Jade Group, paid its fees for its permit.
"We are expecting the project to begin next week," the city's senior planner, Jordan Yanke, said in an interview.

A formal groundbreaking ceremony is planned for Thursday.
A divided City Council approved the four-story complex in May 2021. Before that, the Planning and Zoning Commission rejected it in a 7-1 vote. At issue lately was the building permit, which is approved administratively.
