Local Business Woman Begins a New Fairytale (PHOTOS)
Former Darien Chamber of Commerce President Erika Zimmerman celebrated the grand opening of her store, The Cottage, Tuesday.
Stepping into The Cottage is like stepping into a fairytale—which is just the way owner wants it.
"(I want people to be) comfortable, happy and finding their own personal joy," she said.
It was only fitting then that Zimmerman celebrated the grand opening Tuesday amid fairy princesses, ballerinas and a feast fit for a queen.

Zimmerman has owned the small, yellow building next to for 34 years. After her tenant Ellie Gibbler abruptly closed this winter, Zimmerman decided the time was right to open her own store.
"The inspiration was always there," she said.

The Cottage features an eclectic selection of jewelry, scarves, vintage knick-knacks and home decor.
"She has excellent taste," said Darien Chamber Chairman of the Board Tim Werner. "I could bring my daughter here and she'd find 20 things she would want."
At the ribbon cutting, Zimmerman outfitted children with fairy wings, while live musicians played and ballerinas danced. As the painting on The Cottage's front window promised, she brought a little bit of magic into the real world.
