Darien 2019 Citizen Of The Year Cancelled

DARIEN, IL — Darien's 2019 Citizen of the Year event has been cancelled. The committee who chooses the citizen said residents nominated this year did not meet all the criteria for the Citizen of the Year.

According to the city, the committee's criteria for recommending a Citizen of the Year includes diversity of activities, length of service, degree of involvement in the community and impact to the City of Darien.

"This criteria is not taken lightly and, as all previous Citizens of the Year, should possess all criteria mentioned," the city said. "Therefore, the 2019 Citizen of the Year event has been cancelled."
