Darien 2026 Primary Voters Guide

DARIEN, IL – Early voting continues until Saturday in Tuesday's Democratic and Republican primaries.

Early voting in Darien takes place at the Darien Community Center, 7301 Fairview Ave. Other DuPage County sites are available online.

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Are you registered to vote?

If you're not sure if you're registered to vote, you can check online. If you're not registered, even though online voter registration has closed, you can still register in person the same day you vote, whether you vote early or on Election Day.

To register in person, you'll need to bring two forms of ID or proof of residency, including a passport, driver's license, lease or mortgage. At least one form of ID must list your current address.

What's competitive?

Much of Darien has a property tax increase on the ballot.

The measure would mean $38 million for the Tri-State Fire Protection District. It would bring an estimated $140 annual increase for the owner of a $400,000 house.

You've likely been seeing a lot of ads for congressional seats in the suburbs. That's because the state is seeing musical chairs with the retirement of U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin.

But Darien voters won't get to weigh in on such competition.

Darien is largely in the 6th District, with Democratic Rep. Sean Casten as the incumbent. He is running against Joey Ruzevich, who is positioning himself as the progressive in the race.

The Senate election is attracting the most attention. It's a Democratic three-way race with Lt. Gov. Julia Stratton and U.S. Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi and Robin Kelly.

Running on the Republican side are Casey Chlebek, Don Tracy, R. Cary Capparelli, Pamela Denise Long, Jimmy Lee Tillman II and Jeannie Evans.

For governor, J.B. Pritzker is running unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Republicans Ted Dabrowski, James Mendrick, Darren Bailey and Rick Heidner are vying for the GOP nod. This time, no big donors are helping any of the GOP candidates.
