This Darien-Area Principal Named State's Principal Of Year
Principal is preparing for an "amazing finish with incredible people."
DARIEN, IL – Illinois has more than 3,000 public elementary schools.
Of all the elementary principals in the state, Mark Pagel of Downers Grove's Prairieview Elementary School topped the charts this year. On Wednesday, he was named the Illinois Principals Association's Elementary Principal of the Year.
Prairieview is part of Center Cass School District 66, which serves Darien and Downers Grove.

Pagel was informed of the news in a surprise ceremony by the school's employees and his family.
"The credit is not mine; it is all yours," he told the staff. "With just over a year to go, what an amazing moment. I'm ready for an even more amazing finish with the incredible people in this room."

Pagel took Prairieview's helm in 2014.
