Darien Bank Robbery: Case Turned Over To FBI

DARIEN, IL — An armed bank robbery that took place Wednesday morning has now been turned over to the FBI for investigation. According to a release from the police department, the suspect robbed West Suburban Bank, 1005 75th St., at 9:11 a.m. July 12.

According to a release, the suspect entered the bank, jumped the teller counter, displayed a handgun and demanded money. After taking an undetermined amount of cash, he fled the bank on foot heading southeast, police said.

The handgun was recovered at the scene, and it was determined it was not a real handgun, but a replica, police said. Nobody was injured in this incident.

According to the release, the suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black hoodie with a white logo on the back, black pants, black or blue cloth gym shoes and carrying a black backpack. He was also wearing a zebra-striped bandana covering the lower portion of his face, and he taped all of his fingertips with black tape. Police said it appears that the suspect may have had a skin condition.
