Darien Coronavirus: Cases More Than Double
Increase reflects other towns in DuPage County. More people are getting tested.
DARIEN, IL — The number of coronavirus cases has more than doubled in less than two weeks in Darien, according to DuPage County Health Department statistics. As of Sunday, the Darien number was 40, up from 15 on April 1. This reflected increases in other towns in the area. Such spikes are happening as more people are getting tested for the virus.
Naperville, the county's biggest municipality, had the most cases at 100 as of Sunday. Among the towns with the highest counts is Darien's neighbor, Willowbrook, with 64 confirmed cases. Although Willowbrook is one of the county's smallest towns, it suffered an outbreak at Chateau nursing home, where eight residents so far have died as a result.
According to its latest count, DuPage County reported 1,165 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 48 deaths. The county does not give the number of deaths by municipality.
