Darien DUI Suspect 3 Times Legal Limit: Cops

Man was leaving a local bar when he crashed in the parking lot, report says.

DARIEN, IL — Darien officers were already handling one crash in the parking lot near Q Bar, 8109 Cass Ave., when another one occurred earlier this month, police said.

About 1:30 a.m. Nov. 6, officers heard a loud bang in the lot and saw the driver leaving the site of the crash, in which he struck a parked vehicle, police said. They stopped him.

He was identified as Luis Moreno Barragan, 25, of Westmont. Patch obtained the full police report on the incident.

Officers instructed Barragan to turn his car off and hand over his keys. He complied.

He told police he had just left Q Bar. Asked whether he struck a car, he said he was unsure what he hit, if anything, but thought he may have hit a curb, according to the police report.

Asked how much alcohol he had consumed, he said he had "more than a couple" and later said the amount was "a little bit excessive," the report said.

His breath-alcohol content was found to be .25, more than three times the state's legal limit, according to the report.

Barragan was charged with DUI and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on bond, with his sister picking him up at the police station, the report said.
