Marchese Wins Darien Mayoral Election

DARIEN, IL - Joseph Marchese is the projected winner of the Darien mayoral race with all precincts reporting. Marchese has 39.80 percent of the vote, leading Ted Schauer, who has 30.09 percent and Steve Leopoldo who has 30.11 percent.

Marchese will replace outgoing mayor Kathleen Weaver, who did not seek re-election. He reacted to his win in a video posted to his campaign Facebook page late Tuesday.

In the 6th Ward City Council race, Eric Gustafson is projected to win with 71.54 percent of the vote to Francis Sobotka's 28.46%.

Races in Darien for City Clerk, Treasurer and 2nd and 4th Ward aldermanic elections went uncontested.
