Darien Firefighter Hears Loud Thud On Bay Doors; Man Arrested

DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving property damage, trespassing, retail theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest police reports:

Property damage

• About 11 p.m. Saturday, a firefighter at the Darien-Woodridge Fire District station, 7550 Lyman Ave., heard a loud thud to the bay doors and discovered someone had damaged six plastic window panels. A 30-year-old Chicago man was charged with criminal property damage. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Trespassing

• Police were called about 6 a.m. Wednesday to Speedway gas station, 7502 Cass Ave. A man who had been banned from the property returned, police said. He was cited on a trespassing charge. He was given a court date and then released.

Retail theft

• A 19-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 5:30 p.m. July 30 on a retail theft charge. Police said they were called to Walmart about two people concealing merchandise in a backpack and a purse. The other suspect, a 19-year-old Willowbrook woman, was issued a notice to appear in court on a retail theft charge.

DUI

• A 32-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 3 a.m. Monday on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. Police said the man drove over the center lane several times on Cass Avenue. The man was given a court date and then released.
