Darien Gas Station Robbed At Gunpoint: Police

The Shell gas station on Cass Avenue in Darien was robbed at gunpoint on July 14.

DARIEN, IL — The Shell gas station on Cass Avenue in Darien was robbed on July 14. According to a release from the Darien Police Department, the armed robbery occurred at the gas station, 8226 Cass Ave., at 9:09 p.m. July 14.

Police said a male suspect entered the gas station where he selected a food item and approached the front counter. The suspect handed the clerk the food item and handed cash to the clerk for payment. As the clerk was counting change, the offender pulled a black semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the clerk. The clerk handed over an undetermined amount of money and the offender fled eastbound toward Cass Ave., according to the release.

According to the release, the suspect is described as 18-25 years of age, 5'5", with a slender build. He was wearing a grey long sleeve zip-up jacket with white stripes on the arms, blue jeans and white Air Force One gym shoes. The hat the suspect was wearing was black and red with the inscription "yums" on the back.
