DARIEN, IL — Two Memorial Day events will take place around Darien. The first event, a VFW Memorial Day Remembrance for Fallen Military, will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
According to the city newsletter, the event is a joint ceremony with VFW Darien Post 2838 and Downers Grove Post 503. There will be a display of US flags placed over 1,500 of the cemetery's veterans graves.
The second event will be held at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Darien Community Park, at 71st Street and Clarendon Hills Road. The Darien VFW Post 2838 will commemorate the day and present a program called the "Remembrance Table" during the ceremony. Veteran Motorcycle Honor Group Rolling Thunder will also join the VFW at the event.
