Darien Man Jailed In Domestic Battery Case: Cops

In another matter, a car was burglarized in a local neighborhood, Darien police said.

DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving domestic battery, car burglary, retail theft, DUI and fleeing. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

Domestic battery

  • About 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, an officer saw a 53-year-old man who lives in the 8400 block of Creekside Lane walking into a forest preserve in the 2600 block of Oldfield Road. The officer knew the man had a DuPage County warrant charging failure to appear in court for a domestic battery case. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Car burglary

  • A car was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Timber Lane. Suspects entered the car and stole a debit card.

Retail theft

  • A 33-year-old Bolingbrook woman was arrested about 9 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. Police said she failed to scan multiple items at the self-checkout counter. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 32-year-old Woodridge man was arrested about 3 p.m. Sunday on a charge of retail theft. Police said the man switched price tags at Walmart, 2189 75th St. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

DUI

  • A 36-year-old Darien man who lives in the 7500 block of Grant Street was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Monday on charges of DUI, speeding and improper lane usage. Police said he was speeding 73 mph in a 40 mph zone near Cass Avenue and Interstate 55. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 30-year-old Naperville woman was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. Near 75th Street and Cass Avenue, an officer saw the woman swerve her car to the right several times, almost striking a curb. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Fleeing

  • A 26-year-old Lafayette, Louisiana, man was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Monday on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, reckless driving and speeding more than 35 mph over the limit. An officer clocked the man speeding 100 mph in a 40 mph zone in the 800 block of Plainfield Road. The officer caught up with him at Plainfield and Route 83. But the driver sped up again and changed lanes. When the officer activated lights and sirens, the driver continued to change lanes. Oak Brook police spotted the driver heading north on Route 83 and followed the man. The man finally pulled over at Chipotle at 353 Route 83 in Elmhurst. A judge allowed him to be released until trial.
