Darien Man Jailed For Theft By Deception: Police

DARIEN, IL – In recent days, Darien police handled cases involving theft by deception, endangerment of children, domestic battery, DUI and vandalism. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

Theft by deception

• James Poteraske, 54, who lives in the 7500 block of Grant Street in Darien, was arrested Friday on a charge of theft by deception. It was in connection with an incident at Home Depot, 2101 75th St., three days earlier. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Endangering children

• A 40-year-old man who lives in the 1500 block of 73rd Street in Darien was arrested about 7 p.m. Sunday at Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave., on a charge of endangering the health or life of a child. He left two children in the car alone while he was in Jewel shopping, police said. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Domestic battery

• A 26-year-old man who lives in the 8300 block of Woodland Drive in Darien was arrested about 5 a.m. Sunday at his house on a charge of domestic battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Warrant

• While investigating another situation in the 7500 block of Lemont Road, an officer discovered a 34-year-old Wheaton woman was wanted on a DuPage County warrant charging failure to appear in court. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

DUI

• A 22-year-old Westmont woman was arrested about 4 a.m. Sunday in the 8300 block of Cass Avenue on charges of DUI, speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was clocked speeding 70 mph in a 40 mph zone, police said. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Vandalism

• An officer saw graffiti Nov. 22 on a fence bordering two businesses in the 8000 block of Cass Avenue. The damage was estimated at $500.
