DARIEN, IL — Darien Mayor Kathleen Weaver recently condemned "White Lives Matter" flyers that had circulated around a neighborhood in Darien. According to the city newsletter, the flyer circulated in the Knottingham area and was entitled "White Lives Matter."
The mayor said the originator of the flyer had listed websites for people to visit, and Weaver said these websites has messaging not consistent with the values of Darien.
"We believe the websites to be white supremacist, racist and anti-Semitic in nature," Weaver said in the city newsletter. "As the Mayor of Darien, representing the communities within our town, I wanted to give the message that Darien is inclusive and this type of rhetoric is not what we believe."
