Darien Offers Reason For Tree Removal In Neighborhood
The city plants far more trees than it takes down, an official said.

DARIEN, IL – If Darien removes a tree, don't consider it a trend, according to the city.
Last year, the city planted more than 350 trees while removing fewer than 50, said the city's public works superintendent, Kris Throm.
A resident expressed concern to Patch this week about the removal of a tree next to townhomes on Knottingham Circle.

Over the winter, Throm said in a statement, the city responded to a water main break involving services to a few townhomes.
That project involved a major excavation next to the tree, severely damaging its root system, he said. It needed to come down.
