DARIEN, IL – Work is expected to start next week at Garden View Park in Darien, which is at 802 Plainfield Road.

Last year, the Darien Park District received a $600,000 state grant to upgrade the two-acre park, which is the district's former maintenance site.

The project is expected to begin Monday, weather permitting, the district's executive director, Stephanie Gurgone, told Patch in an email Thursday.

The project will include a splash pad, a playground, a shelter, a perennial maze and shady picnic areas, according to the district.

"The project will focus on environmental responsibility by including community gardens, along with a large pollinator garden," the district said on its website.
