Darien Police Arrest Duo After Chase

Officer sees missing license plate and determines car to be stolen, police said.

DARIEN, IL — A missing license plate on a car aroused a Darien officer's suspicion early the morning of Feb. 10. The vehicle was determined to be stolen. When the officer tried to pull over the driver near Lemont Road and 87th Street, the car sped off, police said in a news release. Darien police then pursued the car, stopping it on northbound Interstate 55. The suspects then ran away, but were caught and arrested, police said.

Their car was reported stolen in Frankfort, the release said. The suspects were Taurial Mintz, 19, and Diamond Wood, 18, both of Chicago. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail. A 16-year-old passenger also was taken into custody.

The two suspects were arrested on charges of fleeing officers and possession of stolen property, among others.
