Darien Ready To Sue Over 'Dilapidated' Building
It once housed a dentist's office. The city said it has received complaints.
DARIEN, IL – Darien acknowledged receiving complaints about a "dilapidated" building at 1225 Plainfield Road. It once housed a dentist's office.
In a statement late last week, the city said it directed the property owner to bring the building into compliance with local regulations.
However, Darien said the owner refused to fix it up.

Because of that, the city must go to court, seeking code compliance or demolition, according to the statement. The city said it is preparing to sue the property owner and board up the building.
"The property is currently for sale, but we need to move forward on the lawsuit until appropriate action is taken," the statement said.

Real estate websites say the property's price tag is $495,000.
