Darien Resident's Handyman Charged With Burglary: Police

Suspect is seen on video early in the morning at customer's house, report says.

DARIEN, IL — A man hired to do work on a house in the 2900 block of Beller Road was found there early in the morning and ended up being arrested, according to a Darien police report. About 2 a.m. Wednesday, the resident was awakened by a noise downstairs, with the doorbell camera detecting movement, police said.

The video showed that it was Thomas Meehan, 47, of Chicago, who was found in the 8100 block of Lemont Road, the report said. The man admitted to stealing a bottle of whiskey from the house, according to police.

He was arrested on charges of residential burglary and theft under $500. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
