Darien Rotary Takes Action in COVID-19 Crisis
Darien Rotary Club members are people of action - we're taking action during the COVID-19 crisis

Nobody expected COVID-19, but when it arrived, the people of the Darien Rotary Club sprang into action. Their actions so far are:
- Area food banks report a 70% increase in demand and a 40% decrease in donations, so the club gave $5000 in cash donations to 5 area food banks.
- The club counts on local restaurants to donate food and time to our Taste of Route 66 event, but with restaurants limited to takeout only, their revenues are crashing and they are being forced to lay people off. To thank and help our restaurant supporters, the club donated $4500 to nine area restaurants.
- A key secondary mission of the club is promoting literacy. The club gave $1000 to support Darien schools' summer literacy program.
- The Darien Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, which has 1.3 million members in over 160 countries. As part of their international mission, they are donating $1000 to a project which will buy PPE for hospitals in Honduras.
