Darien Sees Drop In Virus Cases: County
The city has experienced no new coronavirus deaths in months.
DARIEN, IL — Last week, Darien saw a drop in its weekly number of coronavirus cases, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, Darien had seen 1,889 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 23 in the last week. The week before last, the city experienced 28 new cases.
The city's number of coronavirus deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 22, as it has been for months. That works out to less than a thousandth of Darien's population.

As of Sunday, Darien had 87.3 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 93.7 in La Grange Park, 97.5 in DuPage County, 98.3 in Hinsdale, 100.9 in Elmhurst, 106.8 in Western Springs, 107.5 in Clarendon Hills, 107.8 in suburban Cook County, 111.7 in Burr Ridge and 126.7 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,508,005, up 1.8 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,889.
Nationally, 38.7 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 3 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 634,157 people have died from the virus in the United States.
