Darien Shoplifting Suspect Found At Another Store: Cops

The man was confronted by officers in the second store, police said.

DARIEN, IL – A man suspected of shoplifting Sunday at a Darien store was later found at another one, police said.

Antonio Rice, 56, of Woodridge, was cited on a charge of retail theft. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

About 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Rice was seen leaving Brookhaven Marketplace, 7516 Cass Ave., with two unpaid salads and vegetables, police said.

Not long after, officers found Rice's car in the Walmart parking lot on 75th Street unoccupied with the stolen items on the floor, police said. He was confronted by police in the self-checkout aisle in Walmart.

Also charged with retail theft was Justice Higa, 28, of Bolingbrook. According to a police report, Higa was seen under-ringing items at Walmart's self-checkout aisle about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
