Darien Standoff: Local Suspect Identified
Man is accused of threatening his father with a gun, then refusing to submit to police, according to a report.

DARIEN, IL — Darien police have identified the man who was arrested after a lengthy standoff more than a week ago.
A Darien man was charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, resisting arrest and interfering with reporting of domestic violence. He was still in jail as of Monday, with his bond set at $25,000, according to the jail's website. The jail typically posts mugshots of inmates on its website, but does not do so for him.

About 9 p.m. Nov. 28, the man's distraught father contacted an officer at the Darien Police Department and reported that his son pointed a gun at him and threatened him, police said.
The incident happened in the 7500 block of Grant Street, where the father lives, police said. It was a block away from the intersection of 75th Street and Cass Avenue.

After interviewing the father, officers went to the house. Following several failed attempts to speak with the man on the phone, an interagency SWAT team was activated, police said. After several hours of talks, officers entered the house and took him into custody.
The SWAT group is part of the Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigative Team, or MERIT, a countywide task force.
