Darien Store Burglarized Twice This Summer
Business is out thousands both times after burglars strike, report say.

DARIEN, IL — For the second time since June, Cheap Tobacco, 6800 Route 83, was burglarized, according to Darien police reports. About 3:30 a.m. Aug. 18, a Darien police officer saw the store's front window broken out. A review of security footage showed six men with a sledgehammer smashing the window and removing cartons of cigarettes, with the loss at $4,814, police said.
In the first case, a witness saw a suspect break a window at Cheap Tobacco early the morning of June 11, police said. The suspect was last seen on video headed south on Route 83 in a silver Chevrolet Malibu. The person stole 109 cartons of cigarettes, valued at $8,800, according to a report.
